Five Scottish finalists feature in UK-wide awards for digital transformation

Four Scottish public sector organisations and an initiative designed to help vulnerable people north of the border get online have been shortlisted for a set of UK-wide awards devoted to work on digital transformation.

The Digital Leaders 100, which was launched in 2013, was set up to “recognise individuals and organisations who demonstrate a pioneering and sustainable approach to digital transformation across the public, private and non-profit sectors”.

City of Edinburgh Council is in the running for digital council of the year for its work on Edinburgh Collected, an online history tool developed by the local authority.

Local government umbrella body COSLA has been shortlisted for digital public service innovation of the year for its work on public sector recruitment portal myjobscotland.gov.uk.

The Scottish Government’s Digital Scotland project is up for digital inclusion and skills initiative of the year, while the John Wheatley Learning Network has been nominated for digital public service of the year.

One Digital, a UK-wide effort to boost digital participation that, among other things, will see the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) train individuals in more than 600 charities and third sector organisations to help those they work with get online, features in the cross-sector digital collaboration of the year category.

Voting closes on 27 May. The award winners will be announced in London on 15 June.
