Scotland’s digital technology sector 'thriving' as entries flood in for awards

Scotland’s digital technology sector 'thriving' as entries flood in for awards

Scotland’s digital technology sector is “thriving”, industry trade body ScotlandIS has claimed, after entries for its annual awards reached a record level.

The awards, which are now in their sixth year, saw the number of entries increase by half on last year ahead of next month’s ceremony in Glasgow.

Informed Solutions, School Cloud Systems and Spider Online will compete for the best public sector product or service award, one of 15 categories this year.

Meanwhile, Iomart and Skyscanner will go head to head for the large digital tech business award, while Administrate, Calnex and Edge Testing are shortlisted for the mid-sized business category. Admino, Escrivo, and Mallzee will vie for the small digital tech business award.

Polly Purvis, CEO of ScotlandIS, said: “The Scottish digital technology sector is not just buoyant, it is thriving. It continues to grow year on year. I am delighted to see this reflected in the number of entries for the competition, up by over 50 per cent this year.

“The diversity, scale and sheer innovation of the companies on the shortlist is impressive and demonstrates the opportunities which are available for those interested in a career in the sector.”
