Twitter reacts to "disturbing reports"

In the closest general election in decades, and following the disruption at a recent Jim Murphy speech, it is perhaps understandable that concerns have arisen over the conduct of campaigners.

But it seems Tory leader Ruth Davidson spoke too soon in voicing fears over “disturbing reports” involving voters being turned away from a Dumfries and Galloway polling station by “burly blokes”.

Twitter reacted quickly, with users doing their utmost to hunt down the truth.

Some conducted a search for the "burly blokes" in question

Others seemed more concerned by the questions asked

And, as usual, things escalated quickly from there
