Tributes paid to David Hill following sudden death

Tributes have been paid from across Scottish politics to David Hill who died while playing rugby for the cross-party Scottish Parliament team.

In a statement, the team said Hill had passed away during a game against a side representing the Irish Dáil and Seanad.

Scottish Conservative Jamie Greene, who Hill worked for as his head of office, tweeted: “It is with the greatness ssadness, shock and regret that I share the news of the sudden and tragic passing of my head of office, David Hill.

“David was a friend, colleague and confidant of so many in the Scottish Parliament over the years.”

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted: “This is so terribly sad. My deepest condolences to David’s family, friends and colleagues - and of course to his @HolyroodRugby teammates who I know are all deeply shocked and heartbroken.”
