Success for Holyrood magazine at PPA Scotland Awards

Success for Holyrood magazine at PPA Scotland Awards

Holyrood won a number of prizes at the PPA Scotland Awards including Media Brand of the Year.

The magazine, which was launched in 1999, also triumphed in the Business Title of the Year category, while Mandy Rhodes was named Editor of the Year.

The title also won the Editorial Photograph of the Year category for a picture of Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy taken by photographer Anna Moffat. Ruaraidh Gilmour was highly commended in the Young Journalist of the Year category.

Rhodes said: “It was another successful year for Holyrood at the prestigious PPA Scotland Magazine Awards with both the quality of our journalism and the commercial strength of our brand recognised by the judges.

“It was fantastic to see our Holyrood 500 event that celebrated our 500th issue last year win the award for Best Event of the Year because more than anything that event embodied all that we do by bringing together all of those who work in our political world - politicians, journalists, public affairs professionals and commentators, to celebrate everything about politics and the good that it can do.

“On a personal note, I’m also really pleased to have been named Editor of the Year but am constantly reminded that this is all about good team work.

“These awards show that despite the challenges it continues to face, Scotland’s magazine sector is in good health. I’d like to extend my congratulations to everyone who won an award.”

Other winners included TES, The List and golf magazine Bunkered.
