SNP Westminster reshuffle: Who's in and who's out?

While the sacking of Joanna Cherry dominated the headlines, the SNP's leader at Westminster, Ian Blackford, announced a number of other changes to the front bench as part of his reshuffle.

There are four new additions to the front bench: Patricia Gibson becomes shadow spokesperson for Housing, Communities and Local Government;  Angela Crawley becomes shadow spokesperson for the Attorney General; Richard Thomson is now shadow spokesperson for Northern Ireland and Stephen Flynn MP becomes the party's spokesman for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Stuart McDonald takes on Cherry's Home Affairs brief, while Anne McLaughlin becomes the party's spokeswoman for Justice and Immigration.

Alison Thewlis remains as shadow Treasury spokeswoman, while Alyn Smith stays as the party's spokesman on foreign affairs.

Blackford said: "We have a wealth of talent and experience and this reshuffle of SNP MPs ensures we are in the best possible position to hold the UK government to account during this global pandemic and the aftermath of Brexit, to support colleagues ahead of the Scottish elections, and to deliver independence.

"Team working and cooperation are key to ensure results and this reshuffle will give us a strong team to take us forward. We have an incredibly hard-working group of MPs - I thank them all for their commitment and congratulate those in new positions."

Tommy Sheppard, formerly the party's spokesman for the Cabinet Office moves to become shadow spokesman for Constitutional Affairs, while Neil Gray will coordinate the SNP's Inclusion and Wellbeing team before stepping down as a MP and seeking election to the Scottish Parliament.
