Scottish Public Service Awards recognised by MSPs
MSPs have backed a motion celebrating nominees for this year’s Scottish Public Service Awards.
Recognising excellence across the public sector and its third sector partners, the awards are now in their 13th year and will be held at the Scottish Parliament on 9 December.
This year’s shortlist includes 30 teams across 10 categories and reflects work in diverse areas from teams in the civil service, councils, government, parliament, health and social care system, and more.
The motion was submitted by SNP backbencher Bob Doris and has been backed by MSPs from across the political spectrum.
It congratulates all nominees, who represent communities “across the length and breadth of Scotland” and have delivered work “in areas ranging from mental health support to strengthening supply chains”.
The motion states that the “innovative projects showcased through the awards demonstrate the type of work that is needed to support wider public service reform and commends all of the nominees for their dedication and for delivering programmes that benefit people across Scotland”.
Signatories include Scottish Labour deputy leader Jackie Baillie, former children’s minister Clare Haughey of the SNP, Tory health lead Miles Briggs, and Lib Dem Liam McArthur, a former deputy presiding officer.
The full list of winners will be published after the event.
