The shortlist has now been announced for the third annual Scottish Public Service Awards.

The awards recognise the often unseen contribution made to Scottish society by people and teams working in the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, councils, charities and diverse public agencies.

There were 150 entries for this year’s awards from the civil service, local government, third sector organisations and public bodies from across Scotland.

A judging panel made up senior leaders from across the public, private and third sectors then selected the top the three entries in each of the 11 categories.

One of the judges, Holyrood editor Mandy Rhodes, said: “The Scottish Public Service awards are now in their third year and the quality and breadth of entries this year is testament to the amazing work that goes on within Scotland’s public service sectors.

“The judges were inspired and delighted by entries that had achieved great results in their particular areas during a time of funding cuts and the need for ever greater efficiencies.

“Some of the nominees had challenged conventional wisdom about issues such as poverty and addiction, and as a result shaped a much improved delivery of service, while others had created whole new services from scratch.

“The entries came from large and small organisations with budgets to match, but were all connected by the one overarching quest to deliver high quality, best value services that could help transform the lives of Scots for the better.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Scottish Parliament on 5 December co-hosted by Deputy First Minister John Swinney and Deputy Presiding Officer Christine Grahame.
