Rockstar Games issues statement over Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks
Rockstar Games has issued a statement about recent leaks of videos that appear to show gameplay from the new Grand Theft Auto 6.
The games company addressed the leaks that began last week, describing the situation as "heartbreaking" for its development team and "unfortunate" for fans.
The statement reads: "It would be an understatement to say that having these videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.
"We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has - from getting the game finished (nearly finished!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know."
The leaked gameplay clips were quickly taken down from social media sites by copyright strikes. Last week, Rockstar's parent company Take Two Interactive started legal proceedings over the leaks in a New York court.
