Peter Mandelson arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office
Peter Mandelson has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in police office.
The peer was arrested at an address in London earlier today following earlier searches of two properties in Camden and Wiltshire.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers have arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“He was arrested at an address in Camden on Monday, 23 February and has been taken to a London police station for interview.
“This follows search warrants at two addresses in the Wiltshire and Camden areas.”
Mandelson was appointed US ambassador by Prime Minister Keir Starmer but was sacked last year due to his links with Jeffrey Epstein.
He had been under investigation over allegations he shared market-sensitive government information with Epstein during his time as a minister.
