Nicola Sturgeon to be questioned by Scottish Parliament Conveners Group

Nicola Sturgeon will appear before the Conveners Group of the Scottish Parliament this afternoon.

The group, which is made up of the conveners of all 15 of the Scottish Parliament’s committees, will question the First Minister about her programme for government, announced last month.

During the hour and a half long session, conveners will be able to ask questions about any topic that falls under their committee remits, with questions expected on taxation, Brexit, social security and education.

Speaking ahead of the session, chair of Conveners Group and deputy presiding officer Christine Grahame said: “This session is all about sustained and detailed scrutiny and that is what our committees do best.

“Conveners will question the First Minister on everything from health and education to the environment, social security and of course Brexit.

“There will be no shortage of questions and, given the range of important issues to be covered, I think we can expect some interesting exchanges.”

It has been announced that the meeting is to become a bi-annual event, with the next session scheduled for March 2018.
