NHS Lanarkshire has chosen datacentre and cloud services provide Proact IT to deliver and manage a new converged IT platform.

The new private cloud will host an upgraded patient administration application aimed at improving service levels for the 650,000 people NHS Lanarkshire serves.

The system will be built on FlexPod architecture, part of Proact’s managed cloud service portfolio.

It is designed to underpin InterSystem’s TrakCare, a unified patient administration application that facilitates coordinated care across hospitals throughout a region.

Proact will provide 24-hour remote monitoring and service management for the storage, networks, hypervisor, physical servers and virtual machine operating systems.

Support will be delivered from Proact’s Central Scotland network operations centre, with a single point of contact for support, incident handling, reporting, upgrades and updates.

Barry McCalister, head of applications at NHS Lanarkshire, said: “NHS Lanarkshire is looking forward to working with Proact on the service management and support of the infrastructure for TrakCare, our critical patient administration solution.”
