Murphy appoints Holyrood front bench

Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy has given jobs to his leadership rivals Neil Findlay and Sarah Boyack as part of a new gender-balanced shadow cabinet for the Scottish Parliament.

Murphy said he would work from the Scottish Parliament despite not being an MSP, and officials confirmed he would be admitted on a visitors pass but not be given an office. New deputy leader Kezia Dugdale will lead the party in the chamber.

Jackie Baillie has been promoted to shadow John Swinney's finance role, Jenny Marra is promoted to health and former leader Iain Gray moves to education. Findlay was handed the fair work, skills and training brief while Sarah Boyack takes on rural affairs.

Hugh Henry takes the justice role and Mary Fee is promoted to infrastructure, investment and cities.
