Former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale has been evicted from ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here’.

Dugdale provoked controversy after agreeing to appear on the ITV reality TV show, with the announcement coming hours before her successor Richard Leonard was unveiled as leader.

The MSP, who said she wanted to show politicians are human, became the second person to be sent home from the Australian jungle after lasting 11 days in the camp.

She escaped suspension from the Labour party but will instead be interviewed by the party on her return, to “present her account of events”.

Speaking after her eviction, Dugdale said she wanted to “to take on the myth that every politician looks like Stanley [Johnson] - old, white, male, pale and stale”.

She said: “I wanted to show that there is a variety of people out there."
