Job Title/Organisation: Head of Digital Public Services Strategy and Policy, Scottish Government

What does your role involve?

Developing strategy and policy with a range of stakeholders to ensure our actions align with our overarching strategy Scotland’s Digital Future: Delivery of Public Services.

What do you consider to be the most imminent challenge in your line of work?

Managing expectation in terms of pace and resources available to deliver in the challenging financial climate.

What has been the most rewarding piece of work you've undertaken?

Delivering a strategy that encompasses the ambitions of the McClelland review and the Christie Commission that the public sector across Scotland has signed up to and is deliver on.

How can Scotland bridge the digital skills gap?

I think the public sector can contribute to bridging the skills gap by promoting the excellent work that we do and making it attractive for people to pursue a digital career.

Which new technology excites you the most?

I’m a strategist not a technologist so asking the wrong person.

What's your favourite app and why?

I am not sure I have a favourite but BBC News is probably the most used - that need to know what is happening out there from a trusted source.

What, for you, will 2016 be the year of from a technology/digital standpoint?

2016 will hopefully be the year that our Digital Ecosystem supported by our Transformation Strategy will become a reality.
