‘Insufficient evidence of wrongdoing’ in bullying complaints against Kenneth Gibson
The SNP has said there was “insufficient evidence of wrongdoing” in bullying allegations made against Kenneth Gibson.
Gibson, MSP for Cunninghame North, had represented the SNP at Holyrood beginning in 1999 before being elected presiding officer in May following the election.
The Sunday Mail reported that a dossier of complaints was sent to SNP HQ by independent solicitors.
The allegations include “misogynistic and narcissistic” behaviour and an “excessive sense of entitlement”, with one stating: “He flies into rages, bullies, intimidates and belittles when refused what he wants.”
It was reported that two party officials in Gibson’s constituency resigned over his alleged behaviour and a further 19 members, activists, and councillors signed a letter of complaint in June 2019.
An SNP spokesperson said: “The SNP has a zero-tolerance approach to bullying in any form and takes any allegations seriously.
“Concerns were raised with the party and were thoroughly investigated. They provided insufficient evidence of any wrongdoing and as such no disciplinary action was taken.”
