Holyrood editor shortlisted for Scottish Press Awards
Mandy Rhodes, editor of Holyrood, has been shortlisted in the Interviewer of the Year category at this year’s Scottish Press Awards.
Rhodes, a past winner of Columnist of the Year, was recognised by the judges for her interviews with former Scottish Secretary Ian Murray, Labour MP Zubir Ahmed and solicitor Naomi Cunningham.
Now in its 47th year, the Scottish Press Awards recognises journalists working across Scotland’s print media.
Rhodes said: “I am delighted to see that Holyrood magazine has once again been recognised in the Scottish Press Awards - competing against all the national newspapers - with my entry for Interviewer of the Year being shortlisted for my interviews with health minister Zubir Ahmed; women’s rights lawyer Naomi Cunninham; and former Secretary of State for Scotland Ian Murray.
“An interview is only as good as an interviewee who is willing to expose who they really are, and I am always honoured to be given the privilege of peeling those layers back and getting a peek into what helps shape the people that shape our political landscape.”
This year’s judging panel was chaired by Richard Neville, former head of news brands at DC Thomson and current director of Neville Robertson Communications.
He said: “Year after year, Scottish journalism just keeps delivering for readers, viewers and listeners.
“We are seeing great innovation in the telling of stories through Scottish news brands as well as a clear commitment to ensuring the basic building blocks of holding power to account are solid.”
The awards ceremony takes place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on 21 May.
