Google Cloud services mostly resolved after outage affects banks and businesses
Services affected by an issue with Google Cloud which affected banks, businesses, and the English NHS app are mostly back up and running, the tech firm has said.
Google said the incident was caused by a "power event" which impacted data centres in London which began affecting services around 7am.
Revolut, Halifax, Lloyds, Royal Mail and DPD were among those affected for several hours. There were also reports of bank cards being declined at checkouts.
However, Google's latest update, which came this afternoon, confirmed that the issue "has been mitigated” for most customers. It said a small number of customers remain impacted.
It added: "We will publish an analysis of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation."
This event follows a 15-hour Amazon Web Services outage last year that disrupted hundreds of businesses, including Apple Inc, McDonald’s Corp, and Epic Games Inc.
