Finance secretary marries partner in church service in Dingwall

Finance secretary Kate Forbes has married her fiancé at a church service in the Highlands.

While a number of family and friends were present for the ceremony at the Dingwall and Strathpeffer Free Church, strict rules on gatherings meant many others couldn’t be present at the wedding between the 31-year-old SNP MSP and 41-year-old Ali MacLennan. 

That led to the happy couple streaming their special day on the internet. The newlyweds later posed for photos at the Global Energy Stadium, home of Ross County FC. 

Forbes said: “We are delighted to get married, with some friends and family. Many watched online instead of joining us in person, because of COVID-19 restrictions. 

“After a difficult 18 months for everybody, our wedding day has been full of joy. We hope other couples enjoy the same happy day, even with all the worries and frustration of planning a wedding around restrictions.”
