European IT chiefs to meet in Scotland

European IT chiefs to meet in Scotland

IT chiefs from dozens of universities across Europe are set to gather in Dundee to discuss the future of informational technology within the higher education sector.

The European University Information Systems Organisation, which brings together those responsible for IT management, development and policy in the continent’s higher education institutions, will meet at Abertay University tomorrow for their 21st annual congress.

It is the first time the event has been held in Scotland and is set to be attended by 250 experts from throughout Europe.

New technologies for research, teaching and learning, better management of IT, computer security in the age of the mobile device, and new developments in hardware and software are among topics up for discussion.

Scottish Government Minister for Europe and International Development, Humza Yousaf, and Dr Phil Richards, chief innovation officer at JISC, the organisation that runs the UK’s university network, are to speak at the three-day conference.
