Politicians and their pets: Councillor Robert Foster and Glen

Name: Glen

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier. We are always asked if he is a cross, but he’s a pure JRT. Both his parents have dark coats too and the vet we got him from has loads of them on her farm, in various colours.

Age: Two years, two months.

How long have you had him?

Two years.

Where did you get him?

At a local vet/breeder.

Any special talents?

He’s great at playing fetch, but there is a flight risk if there is not a ball to play with, in that he likes to run away and do his own thing.

What’s the worst thing he’s done?

He is forever trying to steal my 8-year-old son’s snacks!

Do you remember your first pet?

Yes, he was a Cocker Spaniel called Sam.

Are you a pet owner or a pet parent?

Definitely a pet parent. He’s very spoiled and get lots of cuddles.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve done for a pet?

We once came home from a short holiday a day early to pick up Glen as we missed him!

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

I’ve always wanted a Wire Fox Terrier, but they’re quite rare in Scotland.
