As the Eurovision Song Contest reached its climax on Saturday night, it seems some of our prominent politicians were taking an interest in proceedings. After all, they couldn't resist a live televised counting of votes. We haven't had one for a while.

But for some it wasn't just the voting that had caught the eye. He may have regretted tweeting this, but SNP MSP George Adam fancied himself as Swedish winner Mans Zelmerlow...

Hopefully a Paisley DJ will have that tune ready for him next weekend. Luckily his SNP colleague Kevin Stewart MSP didn’t notice. He hadn’t realised he was watching an old comedy repeat on the wrong channel...

Former Labour leader Johann Lamont won the evening with her sardonic commentary:

The banter continued…

Other MSPs found the need to comment on the acts. As well as pointing out it's been 200 years since Waterloo, Murdo Fraser provided some insight into why perhaps Montenegro have since been disqualified...

And acting Labour leader Kezia Dugdale on why she won't walk away from an emergency, like the soft-rock Austrian entry ...

Nil points for Austria.

But it was instead up to James Dornan MSP to bring everyone down. After threatening to “come off twitter for a few hours", he didn’t. Instead he tweeted this:

Bah humbug.
