Result of the 2016 Holyrood election sees the SNP win a third term in government, albeit without an overall majority

The SNP has fallen short of an overall majority but has secured a third term in government, winning 59 constituency seats and four regional seats.

The Scottish Conservatives have more than doubled their tally of MSPs to 31.

Scottish Labour have dropped to third, picking up only three first past the post MSPs, gaining 21 on the regional lists.
