Grand Theft Auto 6 launch delayed until 2026
Much-awaited Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 has been delayed until 26 May 2026, Rockstar Games has revealed.
The gaming firm was set to launch a sequel to its record-breaking game this autumn but has now postponed the release date to next year.
In a post in its website, Rockstar said it was “very sorry” for the delay but added it needed more time to ensure the game is at “the level of quality you expect and deserve”.
The firm said: “The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.
“With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
The trailer for the GTA 6 was released in December and has over 250 million views. However, little has been revealed on the game since. It is set in the fictional Vice City and will follow the story of veteran criminal Lucia as she starts a Bonnie and Clyde inspired heist with her male partner.
