Politicians and their pets: Fiona Sarwar

Name?

Caesar

Breed?

Tabby cat

Age?

Six

How long have you had him?

Six years – since he was a kitten.

Where did you get him?

Just a local ad for kittens.

What do you love about him?

He is fierce and unpredictable but can also be very loveable and affectionate.

What special talents does he have?

Hunting!

What are his most annoying habits?

Bringing back what he catches!

What’s the worst thing he has done?

When he was still quite young, Caesar would wander off and get lost – I remember searching all over town for days in the middle of winter until I found him safe and warm in someone’s house.

Do you think of yourself as a pet parent or pet owner?

Somewhere in between.

What’s your first pet or animal-related memory?
We adopted a part-wild cat from Orkney and would take him back every year on holiday. He would get out of the car and run wild but then always returned to us and came back home in the car and boat again.

What was the first pet you ever had?

Tigger (the above cat)
