British Medical Association

The BMA in Scotland represents over 16,000 members from all branches of medicine throughout Scotland. It is a registered trade union and professional association with more than two thirds of practising doctors in membership. The BMA in Scotland is the voice of the medical profession.

Medical students, junior doctors, medical academics, staff grade, associate specialist and specialty doctors, GPs and consultants are all represented by individual committees within the BMA structure.

As well as trade union activities, we work with governments to lobby for improvements to health and health care and publish reports and research on a variety of public health, scientific and ethical matters.
