Erin Townhill

Erin Townhill joined the Holyrood Communications Events Team in 2012. Prior to joining Holyrood, Erin worked in Scottish policy and public affairs for 10 years in a range of roles with the Scottish Government, the National Union of Students Scotland and within the third sector. In these roles she has sat on several advisory and Cross Party Groups, undertaken policy research and taken forward public affairs campaigns.

She is passionate about working in partnership with others to develop quality events which bring in new speakers and topics and offer a unique perspective to ongoing policy discussions. She has a particular interest in health, social justice and children and young people events.

Craig Flannigan

Craig joined Holyrood Communications in October 2014. Prior to joining Holyrood, Craig worked within media monitoring. Craig graduated with a BA Honours in Politics from the University of Strathclyde, and has interests in local government and justice issues. Outside of work, he enjoys watching football, running and listening to music.

Sabena Blackhall, Event Producer

Sabena joined the team at Holyrood in April 2017 having worked in Scottish policy research since 2015. Her current portfolio encompasses Education, Employment & HR, as well as Energy & Environment. Education is of especial interest as Sabena is the product of all major modes of education - from private and state schooling to tutoring and home education. She then went on to study Literature, achieving a BA at the University of Manchester and then an MSc at the University of Edinburgh.

Emma Grant, Event Producer

Emma joined Holyrood Communications in August 2017. Leading on the health and social care portfolio, she carries out research for and produces a range of policy briefing events and conferences.

Prior to joining Holyrood, Emma attended the University of Edinburgh, where she graduated with an MA in Social Policy and Politics. Through her studies she developed a deep knowledge of global and domestic political systems, focusing in the later years on Scottish politics and related affairs. Since graduating, Emma has maintained this interest in both her professional and personal life.

Mairi Griffin, Events & Marketing Assistant

Mairi joined the Holyrood team as Events & Marketing Assistant in March 2017. With a degree in English and Journalism, she graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2009 and now has over 4 years’ experience as a copy editor and writer, editing for clients including Harper’s Bazaar and the Scottish Government. Having completed design training at Edinburgh College, Mairi also designs content for Holyrood’s events, website and social media feeds.

Mark Riding, Marketing Manager

Mark Riding has worked for Holyrood for over 8 years now and as Marketing and Data Manager is responsible for developing the delegate acquisition for successful portfolio of conferences. Using multiple channels, including social media, email and print marketing Mark has successfully grown the audience reach of a variety of events for Holyrood and our clients, from Digital Health and Care, to the Scottish Public Service Awards, which is now seen as the leading awards ceremony for the Public Service in Scotland.

Sarah Jackson, Head of Events

Sarah, a Prince 2 qualified Events Manager has over 6 years’ experience in running both public and private sector events. Having started her career in events management at the University of Edinburgh, she moved to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in 2014. Here she spent 3 years working on large scale corporate and association conferences, awards ceremonies, gala dinners and VIP events, before making the move to Holyrood Communications to head up the Events team in September 2016.
