Congratulations as Jenny Gilruth and Kezia Dugdale marry

Congratulations have been sent from across Scottish politics after SNP transport minister Jenny Gilruth married former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale.

The couple, who have been together since 2017, held their ceremony at Teasses Estate in Ceres, Fife.

The news was revealed in The Courier newspaper and, in a statement, the couple said: "This was a wonderfully happy day for us and we were blessed to share it with family and friends. Thank you to everyone who made our day so special."

Commenting on Twitter, Dugdale - who left the Scottish Parliament in 2019 and is now the director of the John Smith Centre for Public Service at the University of Glasgow - called it the "happiest day of my life".

Guests at the wedding included SNP president Michael Russell, rural affairs secretary Mairi Gougeon, and former Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted her "many congratulations to Jenny and Kez", while Deputy First Minister John Swinney called it "lovely news", as did Labour MSP Monica Lennon.

Lib Dem MSP Liam McArthur called the marriage "great news" with "even better photos", sending the couple "much love" and Anas Sarwar wished the pair "a lifetime of happiness together".

Conservative MSPs Brian Whittle and Jamie Halcro Johnston were also amongst the well-wishers.

Meanwhile, SNP MP Mhairi Black also married her partner over the weekend. The Paisley and Renfrewshire South politician tied the knot with Katie McGarvey at Pollokshields Burgh Hall in Glasgow. Sturgeon called this "more lovely wedding news".
