Women and COVID: Tackling Economic Inequality Through Recovery

This event took place on 5 March 2020 and was chaired by Dr Angela O’Hagan, Commissioner, Commission on a Gender Equal Economy and Trustee, UK Women’s Budget Group.

Women have borne the brunt of COVID-19’s devastating economic impact, as the pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities in the labour market, such as unpaid care and domestic work.

A recent UK Parliament Committee report reiterated this, noting that job protection schemes appear to have given little consideration to labour inequalities, and that investment is being focused on male-dominated sectors.

So, what needs to change?

Join us on 5th March as we discuss how equality can be placed at the heart of our economic recovery - through investment in a care economy; improved gender mainstreaming; and breaking down barriers to certain professions.
