Next Steps for Local Governance Reform in Scotland

This event will be an opportunity for delegates to discuss the next steps for reform of local governance, following on from the Scottish Government’s Local Governance Review.

Empowering Scotland's people and communities

The Scottish Government has signalled that it is keen to devolve greater power to more local levels and has recently completed a joint review with COSLA of local governance in Scotland, ahead of the expected introduction of a Local Democracy Bill.

Meanwhile the recent disagreement between the Scottish Government and City of Edinburgh Council over the potential introduction of a Transient Visitor Levy has reflected an underlying tension between central and local government on the topic of local taxation.

Join Holyrood on 30 April 2019 to hear latest thinking on the findings of the Local Governance Review and discuss next steps for implementing its recommendations.
