Freedom of Information 2018
Scotland has made a commitment to becoming more open and freedom of information is a key mechanism for achieving this. An open government is described as one that shares information, empowers people to hold their actions to account and supports people to take part in the decisions over public policies and services that affect them.
Holyrood’s annual Freedom of Information Conference is a fixture in the calendar, covering the latest issues affecting the sector and providing invaluable learning and networking opportunities. This year we will explore FOI in the context of open government; considering how it can help to build trust and improve participation in democracy. As we do so we will look at the role of FOI in public procurement and how it can lead to more transparency in the procurement process.
