Compulsory Purchase Orders: The Way Forward

This event will look at developments to compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) as a tool for facilitating regeneration.

Modernising Compulsory Purchase Orders

The Scottish Government has pledged to modernise the CPO system as a means of promoting better use of derelict and vacant land. As such the Scottish Land Commission has published proposals for the potential introduction of Compulsory Sales Orders as a mechanism for bringing sites ineligible to be acquired through CPOs back into productive use.

Furthermore the Scottish Government's Planning Bill currently making its way through Parliament includes provisions to empower local authorities to use CPOs to purchase land at current use value through 'masterplan consent areas' and capture subsequent rises in land value.

So what are the implications of these proposed changes to wider policy surrounding regeneration and what are the potential implications for the work of you and your organisation?

Join Holyrood on 21 May, for this CPD-accredited event tackling these vital issues. You’ll hear from an expert speaker line-up as well as having the opportunity to engage in peer learning and discussion, leaving with tangible solutions to implement in your own organisation.
