Sturgeon to chair NHS 24 annual review Print E-mail
Thursday, 09 August 2007

Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon will chair the annual review of NHS 24 today, which will look at planning the service for the winter and other future plans, as well as how the service works with NHS boards. Sturgeon will also be given a demonstration of the call handing system in a visit to the Clyde Contact Centre in Clydebank.

Sturgeon said: “These annual reviews highlight success and give credit where credit is due. But I also want to use these reviews to scrutinise performance, challenge where necessary, and drive forward further improvement.

“I want to see an NHS which delivers services as locally as possible and NHS 24 plays an integral role in helping to deliver on this.

“I am therefore delighted that five satellite centres across Scotland are now up and running, and hear that more are planned. This is thanks to a genuine partnership between NHS 24 and local boards.

“More local centres were a commitment of the Scottish government and I am keen to see satellite NHS 24 centres in every health board area.”
