The children’s charity Save the Children announced today that it will be staging an event at the book festival to highlight the horror of children living with war and to campaign for their right to an education.

The ‘War’s No Game’ event will take place on Saturday 11 August and will feature discussion with the authors Elizabeth Laird and Beverley Naidoo.

The event forms part of Save the Children’s ‘Rewrite the Future’ campaign, which aims to help 80 million children affected by armed conflict return to school.

Jane Gibreel, Save the Children's Programme Director for Scotland said: "The Edinburgh International Book Festival is an incredible opportunity to highlight the serious issue of war, which affects millions of children around the world. Unless we ensure that education reaches children affected by conflict, their futures - and the future of their nations - will remain in jeopardy."
