The SNP's five new Cabinet Secretaries will take their oath of office today before joining First Minister Alex Salmond for a regular weekly meeting at Bute House.
His Cabinet has five secretaries, each presiding over their own area of responsibility and ministers.
Nicola Sturgeon, who represented the SNP at First Minister's Question
over a long period before Alex Salmond returned to Holyrood politics,
is Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and
Wellbeing, a new, wider health post that also incorporates social
inclusion, equalities and housing.
John Swinney, the former SNP leader, who is widely regarded as a safe
pair of hands, is Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth.
The other three Cabinet Secretaries mirror their previous shadow
responsibilties, with Fiona Hyslop as Cabinet Secretary for Education
and Lifelong Learning, Kenny Macskill as Cabinet Secretary for Justice
and Richard Lochhead as Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and
Environment.
