The Scottish Parliament’s Presiding Officer George Reid announced yesterday that the election of his successor and new Deputy Presiding Officers will take place next week.
At the end of today’s morning session, when MSPs will take their oaths
and affirmations, a motion will be put to Parliament proposing that the
first meeting of Parliament is adjourned until 3pm on Monday, at which
point it will reconvene to elect the new Presiding Officers.
Reid said: “After discussion with the main parties it has been agreed
that Parliament will vote on a motion to adjourn the first meeting
until next Monday afternoon.
“Given the election result, it is right that Members have enough time to consider nominations for prospective candidates.”
