Alex Salmond yesterday demanded that Gordon Brown spend up to £30bn on tax cuts and slashing household energy bills .

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon is to meet the families of 18 patients who died in a C.diff outbreak at a dirty hospital. 

More than 8000 pupils are to have their fingerprints taken so they can be tracked by teachers . Controversial biometric fingerprinting will be introduced to eight secondary schools in the biggest experiment of its type in Scotland.

Lib Dem contender Tavish Scott has accused the SNP of failing to tackle the housing market crisis .
