Cabinet roadshow hits Dumfries Print E-mail
Friday, 25 July 2008

The constitutional question is set to top the agenda in the Scottish Government’s summer roadshow. Ministers are to meet in Dumfries next week in the first of a series of events designed to give local people the chance to speak directly to members of the cabinet.

Members of the public and representatives of local organisations will be invited to join a discussion on the government’s National Conversation with First Minister Alex Salmond and his ministerial team.

Salmond said the job of government was to act on behalf of the interests of the people of Scotland.

“It is only logical that we continue to take every opportunity we can to maintain our dialogue with the people we represent and listen to the issues which are important to them,” he said.

"Taking Cabinet to areas like Dumfries and Galloway is an excellent way for us to meet with local communities and listen to their concerns and ambitions for Scotland.  We have a full two-day programme of visits and events around the Cabinets to allow us to engage with as many people as possible."

Meetings are also scheduled for Inverness, Pitlochry and Skye.
