In a shock move, Labour has drafted in a former Scottish cabinet minister in a bid to win this month’s Glasgow East by-election.
The Scottish drinks industry is facing a crisis because of a new ban on pesticides being proposed by Brussels.
This is the first time this amazing image of the Piper Alpha disaster has been published. It was previously thought the initial moments of the blast were not recorded on film, but on the 20th anniversary of the disaster, James Prentice, who was working on a nearby support vessel, has come forward with the first picture of the stricken oil platform.
