First Minister Alex Salmond and Prime Minister Gordon Brown are set to meet at an unprecedented Downing Street summit to discuss plans to avert a fuel crisis over the Grangemouth Strike.

A senior Labour peer has been criticised after he claimed nearly £45,000 in overnight expenses to stay in a property he inherited from his late mother.

After a first few faltering steps, Alex Salmond’s administration has surprised sceptics by walking tall while holding power. Now, all that’s left is for the SNP to prove that their policies are sustainable and affordable.
