SNP attacks costs of Trump ‘fishing exercise’ |

The SNP claims that the inquiry into First Minister Alex Salmond’s involvement with the Trump golf resort plan was a ‘fishing exercise’ that wasted £50,000 in taxpayer’s money.
The £50,000 figure was revealed after a parliamentary question from Nationalist MSP for Aberdeen North Brian Adam into the cost of various Freedom of Information requests, parliamentary questions and the Local Government Committee inquiry.
Adam said:
“This was £50,000 wasted on a failed fishing exercise. The Lib Dems, Labour and the Tories should apologise to the taxpayer for wasting public money in such a fashion.
“The only reputations that have been damaged are those of opposition politicians who were more concerned with attacking the First Minister than supporting the people of the North East. £50,000 of taxpayers money has been wasted on a political vendetta.
The PQs, FoIs and Committee inquiry all show what everyone knew at the start - that the First Minister and the Scottish Government acted properly at all times.”
