Lib Dems unveil energy friendly homes plan Print E-mail

An election pledge to make homes more energy friendly was unveiled by Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Nicol Stephen today. The party claims that communities across Scotland will benefit from “installing wind turbines and solar panels to cut their electricity bills”. 

The plans aim to turn 40,000 houses per year into energy friendly homes, with grant support and tax rebates.

Speaking at the Glasgow Science Centre, Stephen said: “Our Energy Friendly Homes plan will help families across Scotland cut fuel bills, tackle climate change and reduce waste.

“I want to encourage every adult and every child in Scotland to take action on the environment. Investing in energy friendly homes will transform Scotland’s current reputation for poor energy efficiency and too many cold, damp houses.

“We will ensure families in Scotland live in warmer, greener houses. By helping people install their own wind turbines, solar panels, and energy efficiency measures we will cut fuel bills and pollution."
