East Renfrewshire Council has appointed Lorraine McMillan as its new chief executive.
McMillan, who currently heads Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire, will replace David Dippie when he retires in April.
Her appointment brings to five the number of female chief executives among within Scotland’s 32 councils.
She said she was looking forward to working with councillors, staff and residents to develop the council’s drive to deliver the best possible services. “The council has an excellent reputation and I will be doing all I can to further enhance that by pursuing excellence in service delivery at all times,” she said.
Jim Fletcher, leader of East Renfrewshire Council, welcomed McMillan’s appointment. “Her enthusiasm and mixture of public and private sector experience, as well as her clear commitment to public service, will stand the council in good stead,” he said.
