Health boards across Scotland are to benefit from an extra £23m to improve and modernise primary care premises, Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon announced today.
The money will be used to make a range of improvements at premises
including community hospitals, dental centres and community health
centres.
Sturgeon stressed that the Government was committed to ensuring that as much healthcare as possible was delivered locally.
"I realise that ensuring that primary care premises are fit for the
purpose of delivering 21st century healthcare is essential to realising
this ambition.
"That is why I am delighted to be able to announce today a further £23m
to enable boards to make improvements to primary care premises.
"I am also pleased to see that many of the projects being planned by
boards bring together health services with other vital local services.
This exactly mirrors the Scottish Government's vision of making local
services as accessible as possible."
Some of the premises set to benefit include Jedburgh Health Centre, Ayr
Neighbourhood Centre, Drumchapel Children and Family Centre, Tain and
Nairn dental centres and Firhill Health and Social Care Centre in
Edinburgh.
