President of Croatia to visit Parliament Print E-mail
Wednesday, 17 October 2007

The President of Croatia His Excellency Stjepan Mesic will visit the Scottish Parliament tomorrow.

Mesic will meet Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson and a formal reception will follow to mark the President's visit to the Scottish Parliament.

This is President Mesic's second visit to Scotland while in office. On his first visit to the Scottish Parliament in December 2001, Mesic addressed a meeting of Members.

The Presiding Officer said: "We look forward to welcoming the Croatian President back to the Scottish Parliament.

"The President has a very full agenda planned for his trip to Scotland, which demonstrates the growing relationship between our two countries."

In addition to visiting the Parliament President Mesic will meet with the First Minister and officially open the new Honorary Consulate of Croatia in Edinburgh.

He will also address an economic seminar on investment opportunities and the development of Scottish-Croatian business cooperation.
