Blair attacks SNP sums |

Prime Minister Tony Blair today attacked the “substantial risk” to
Scotland's economy posed by the SNP's “uncosted spending commitments
and sums that do not add up”.
Jack McConnell, Tony Blair
and Gordon Brown, meeting in Glasgow, said that voting for the SNP on
May 3 would cost Scottish families £5,000 more than staying with
Labour.
Prime Minister Tony Blair said: "Scotland is a great economic success
story. There are 250,000 more Scots in work than there were in 1997 and
the employment rate is amongst the very best in Europe. Our plans for
education, skills and training will undoubtedly build on this success.
"The SNP would put all that economic stability at risk. Their tax and spending policies just do not add up.
"So the choice for every family in Scotland is clear and as this
campaign goes on I am confident that people will understand which party
has the policies to make Scotland even more successful than it has been
over the last decade."
Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown warned that Labour would later
this week expose a major monetary flaw in the SNP’s economic policy
that would “chase business investment away from Scotland”.
First Minister Jack McConnell said: "It is patriotic to want the
best for your country. It is not patriotic to make Scotland the
highest taxed part of the UK. It is patriotic to keep a cool head,
look at facts and fight for what's best for Scottish families and
Scottish jobs.
"It is not anti-Scottish to be
anti-independence. But it is patriotic to do the hard graft of
leading, doing and getting results."
