Maxwell tours affordable housing Print E-mail
Tuesday, 21 August 2007

Communities and Sport Minister Stewart Maxwell is to tour affordable housing developments in Orkney tomorrow.

The minister will visit developments at Citadel and Garcon, Stromness to meet with residents and see examples of locally-manufactured, prefabricated pods, which are constructed from Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs).

Maxwell will also meet with members of the Orkney Islands Council and Orkney Housing Association to discuss local housing issues.

Speaking ahead of his visit Maxwell said: "This month I have been visiting different areas across the country and listening to what people have to say about housing in Scotland.

"It is important that people throughout the country have access to quality affordable housing. The people of Scotland deserve no less."
