The Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) has been named an official partner of Climate-KIC in Scotland, offering low-carbon entrepreneurs the opportunity to bid for thousands of euros and dedicated business support.

Between 2017 and 2019 the ECCI, hosted by the University of Edinburgh, will distribute funding and provide support to get low carbon start-ups investment-ready.

Start-ups will be able to apply for packages of €5,000 and €10,000 in funding to help translate inventions into business plans.

Dr Andy Kerr, ECCI Director, said: “ECCI brings people together to turn good low carbon ideas into reality – so it’s hugely exciting for us to be bringing Europe’s leading climate innovation programme to Scotland.

“Scotland has a world-leading approach to tackling climate change, and we’re looking forward to being able to offer our home-grown climate innovators the money and expertise to take on growing global markets.

“The Climate-KIC Accelerator programme is open for applications now – so if you have a low carbon business idea and the ambition to make it happen, we’d love to hear from you.”

ECCI provides and brokers expertise and brings business, finance, academia and the public sector together to encourage the development of low-carbon technology.
