Carers from across Scotland will join senior politicians in the Scottish Parliament next week in a UK first.

Scotland’s first annual Carers Parliament will see new Health Secretary Alex Neil and Public Health Minister Michael Matheson join MSPs, representatives from COSLA, Community Health Partnerships, NHS24, and the Association of Directors of Social Work to hear from adult and young carers about the issues that impact most on their lives.

The event, which will be held in the Parliament on Monday 1 October, will be chaired by Deputy Presiding Officer Elaine Smith MSP. The youngest present will be aged 13 and the oldest, over 80.
