SQA reappointments announced

The Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland’s Languages Dr Alasdair Allan, announced the reappointment of Susan Walsh and James Edgar as Board members of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Walsh has served as a college principal for ten years. She has a particular interest in strategic leadership and management and a research interest in how this affects organisational health and well-being whilst assuring a successful and sustainable institution for both students and staff.

She has served on Boards for Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and the Lothians, Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges and Quarries Scotland.

Walsh is the lead Principal for Health and Social care for Scotland’s Colleges and specifically brings to the Board Further Education experience at a senior level.

Edgar is a chartered management accountant with significant experience of finance and operational roles in the public sector. He has non-executive experience in the further education sector having served for eight years as a board member at Stevenson College, Edinburgh, including four as chair. Edgar brings to the Board a background in financial management with some direct business experience and possession of a Chartered Accountancy qualification.

These reappointments will be for four years and will run from 2012 to 2016.
